East Coast Collective

October 16, 2012
Hey everyone, so we have some good and bad news. I am going to be completely and totally honest for the next few paragraphs. Some know, and others don’t but doing shows at the Ethical Humanist Society has not been the easiest thing over the past three and a half years. We have had problems with not only the people who run EHS, but neighbors, local government and the cops. This is why you have seen less and less shows there over the years. It is an amazing place, and one of my favorite all time venues; but definitely not so easy to do shows at. I have risked a lot doing shows there, but with these circumstances, if FALL MIXTAPE happened at EHS, IT WOULD 100% GET SHUT DOWN.
At the Trapped Under Ice show last Monday, we had a cop come to the show and he basically told me that if a neighbor complained, he would have to shut down the show immediately. I’ve defended this venue for years and have even gone to court because of doing shows here (after the Crime In Stereo show). Unfortunately, even if ECC shows go off without a hitch, there are other people who rent out EHS for shows/events who have caused problems and given the place a bad reputation over the years.

I know a lot of you were stoked to see this show at EHS and I was too, but I guarantee you will be more than happy about the show at 89 NORTH. It is an awesome new venue, with no barrier and a great sound system. It’s physically smaller than EHS and will definitely pack the fuck out. Ticket sales have been overwhelming, and with EHS’s capacity, we were a couple dozen tickets away from being sold out, but now the show can happen at 89 North and THE SHOW WILL NOT SELL OUT!

The venue is easy to get to by car, bus or the Long Island Rail Road. Please share this message and spread the word about this show.

I know I hype up a lot of shows, but this is seriously going to be one of the best shows to hit Long Island in a long time. Do not miss this for anything.

The venue is one mile south of Sunrise Highway (NY-27) in Patchogue, and about five miles south of the Long Island Expressway (495).

The Patchogue train station is a 5-10 minute walk from the venue. This station goes all the way to Penn Station and to all the stops in between. The show will be over by 10 PM so you will be able to make it to the train in time and see the whole show!

FALL MIXTAPE WILL BE ALL AGES.

Because there is only one stage, the show is going to have to start much earlier. Doors will be at 11:30 and the first band is at 12. There will be food and drinks sold all day. 89 North has a pizza oven that they will be using all day and selling PIZZA for cheap..in addition to a full bar with alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for sale.
FALL MIXTAPE is going to rule. I hope you’re all excited because I seriously cannot wait…-Jake/ECC
